Weatherization Works!
Tri-County Community Action Inc.’s Home Weatherization Assistance Program, HWAP, provides free weatherization services to low-income residents of Champaign, Logan, and Shelby Counties. This service is available to homeowners, as well as to renters, who qualify according to Federal Income guidelines. If you qualify for the Home Energy Assistance program, HEAP, you automatically qualify for HWAP service! HWAP, not only reduces your energy bills in the winter and keeps your home warmer, but also works in the summer months by reducing your energy bills and keeping your house cooler! HWAP saves a gas heated home an average of $250 to $500 annually.
State trained HWAP personnel will insulate your attic, sidewalls, and floors where needed. Your heating unit will also be inspected and tuned if needed. All service is free of charge to income qualifying persons. All weatherization work is blower door guided, meaning that our staff run tests on your home for determining air leakage. This helps us decide the best ways of making your home as air tight as possible.
